The Belly Factory-- A maternity, nursing, and ultrasound boutique-- one of my favorite places, and I speak there monthly! They carry products that are largely made by moms instead of corporations, and specialty items that are natural and hard to find-- NEW! Now they will be selling gently used maternity and infant clothes as well!
Seedsman Group-- A FABULOUS site with lots of hard to find videos on birth and parenting, my favorite of which is 'Being Dad' 1 and 2. They also carry the Dunstan Baby Language, and some GREAT videos on exercise, sleep, massage and other must-haves for the expectant family. For 20% off your order, be sure to enter coupon code CCD20. I just LOVE this site!
Cutie Poops and Bottoms-- An awesome cloth diapering store. It's hard to make decisions about what kind of diaper to buy if you can't put your hands on them, and this store takes the guesswork out of buying diapers! They even have 'sampler' packages where you can try different kinds to see what you like and return them for the next person to try when you're done! She also offers a fabulous array of classes, many of which are taught by yours truly!
The Brewer diet-- This is what I teach my mommies to follow to prevent complications, and to ensure the healthiest of pregnancies. The sooner you can follow this diet, the better, and it's also successful for healthy breastfed babies and healthy weight loss postpartum!
The Birth Survey-- A program through CIMS wherein you review the medical service providers and facilities that served you during your pregnancy and birth, and a database is compiled to help future mothers choose providers and birth centers. It's, free, invaluable, and a wonderful place to log your info, or to look to find a provider for yourself!
La Leche League International-- Being an LLLI leader, I find it important that all nursing moms get support. I think LLL is the best place to get this, and a wonderful place to bridge the transition from pregnant to parent. Find a group near you, and benefit from the wisdom of others-- and make a few friends while you're there!
Earth Mama Angel Baby-- I recommend their bottom spray. It's is wonderful for moms with stitches of any kind (perineal or abdominal), and for those troublesome hemmoroids that tend to show up in pregnancy or after birth. It helps relieve pain, keep the wound clean, and reduce swelling, as well as smelling wonderful and avoiding physical contact with the inflamed tissue. A mommy must-have!
Child Seat Safety-- I provide this information to all of my students. The number one cause of death of children in the US is car accidents, so this is something that should be taken seriously. Here are some facts to get you started, and once you've purchased a seat, call your local police or fire department to have it properly installed. Most municipalities have a complimentary child passenger safety seat program.
Mamasource-- A fantastic resource for new mommies (and seasoned mommies) to network and get advice and information with a few clicks. It groups you by area code, so the information is local, pertinent, and fast! It's really a must-have in my opinion! And I appreciate business reviews for myself, as well! :)
Baby-Wearing-- A friend of mine (also named Colleen--no joke) makes the BEST baby slings-- I've spent $$ hundreds, only to find her later, as more affordable, cuter, and the greatest quality!!! Here is a link to here facebook page where you can contact her, and view fabric designs. For more info on babywearing check out The Baby Wearer, another great resource.
CIMS-- Activism for birth! Coalition for the Improvement of Maternity Services-- great program, 'pushes' for good legislaion, and mommy's rights!
Womb to Bloom-- This is another site equipped with forums, chats, articles, and information for all of your pregnancy and parental needs. It's another great place to chat with other mommies and service providers without leaving home-- reviews for my services are welcome on here, as well!
Meeting Mommies--This is a site dedicated to helping you find local groups to meet up with. I found several local playgroups, and it's a perfect place to get some social time, and meet some new people with kids!
Doula Match-- This is another site I am registered on that helps direct new parents to local doulas. If you love me, log in and let them know-- future parents will thank you!
